Names of about 20 Belarusians appeared on Norwegian memorial dedicated to those died in WWII

The names of 18 natives of Belarus have appeared on the memorial restored in Norway which is dedicated to the Soviet soldiers who died during the Second World War, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian Defence Ministry’s press service

The renovated memorial complex is located at the Jørstadmoen military cemetery in Lillehammer.

“In 1941-1945, there was a prisoner of war camp formed by Nazi Germany in Jørstadmoen – Stalag-303 – which contained several tens of thousands of people. 954 of them died in German captivity. Of all the dead, 928 people were natives of the USSR, 18 of those buried in Jørstadmoen were natives of Belarus,” the Belarusian department said.

During the restoration, the names of all the soldiers who died were applied.
