Multi-brand centre of Belarusian machinery and Belarus’ trading house to be set up in Omsk
During today’s meeting with President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, Russia’s Omsk Region Governor Vitaly Khotensko proposed to create a multi-brand centre of Belarusian machinery and Belarus’ trading house in Omsk
Vitaly Khotsenko underlined that Russian President Vladimir Putin always aims Russian regions to closely liaise with Belarus, “Therefore, we try to work out all directions as much as possible. Last year, Belarus was ranked fourth among our economic partner after Kazakhstan, China, and Turkiye.”
The Omsk Region Governor said that during the Belarusian Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi’s recent visit to the region, an agreement was reached to liaise across all areas of the economy, “There’s an interesting project related to the creation of a multi-brand centre for all Belarusian machinery and equipment in Omsk, and there’s an investor ready to do this. We ask you, Aleksandr Grigorievich, to help us so that it is done in the same style.”
According to the Russian Governor, at the meeting with Belarus’ Ambassador, the possibility of creating a Belarusian trading house in Omsk was also discussed, “We have selected the best sites and premises in the city centre. If you give such an instruction, we would like to create a trading house of Belarus in Omsk. We boast a very convenient location: 600km to the Urals, 600km to Novosibirsk, and Kazakhstan is situated nearby. We can occupy a large niche with Belarusian goods.”
In his talk with journalists, Vitaly Khotsenko expressed confidence that Belarus and the Omsk Region are able to increase double or even triple their trade turnover from the current $110m in the next five years. The development of business and humanitarian co-operation will also be facilitated by the opening of a direct flight between Minsk and Omsk. This issue is currently being studied.
Moreover, the Omsk Region Governor counts on the help of Belarusian builders in the implementation of infrastructure projects in the region, “We have more projects than builders. We definitely can’t do it on our own. Therefore, today I asked the President of Belarus to support us. Belarusian builders have proven themselves well in Russian regions. If there are construction companies ready to work in our region, we are happy to invite them.”
