MP: Lukashenko, Orban have much in common
Hungary is holding the European Union presidency until the end of 2024, and its Prime Minister Viktor Orban has gone on a peacekeeping tour (as he personally named it), visiting first Kiev, then Moscow and Beijing. In his talk with SB TV, Oleg Gaidukevich, the Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly on International Affairs, speculated on whether this tour is a populist step or a sign of sanity, which people in Belarus can see on the example of their leader, expecting Western politicians to follow it.
“What are the Hungarian Prime Minister and Lukashenko similar in? They are both defending the national interests of their countries. Lukashenko never thinks more about any other countries than about Belarus – primarily focusing on the Belarusian people and the republic,” the MP stated.
Mr. Gaidukevich drew attention to the fact that all the actions of the Hungarian Pime Minister are aimed at the Hungarians’ well-being, “Mr. Orban asserts that Europe (including Hungary) cannot be strong while the war is going on, so peace is needed. The war is making us weaker. Therefore, he is really engaged in these peaceful initiatives – doing this not for PR or any populistic purposes. How has Europe reacted to this? Has he been gratified by the politicians ruling in Brussels? No, it's hatred only. They are throwing mud at him for offering peaceful initiatives, they are spreading fairy-tales about him. He had the courage to go on this tour because he wants a sovereign Hungary, just as our President wants a sovereign Belarus, and President Putin wants a sovereign Russia that will decide upon its fate independently. Is Mr. Orban defending the interests of Moscow, Minsk or Beijing? No, he is defending his own interests, and this is his sincerity. Moreover, I believe him even more because he is the father of five children. Look at his biography and then look at these leaders of Europe. Our President was right to say that they are childless, they never consciously wanted to have children. As our Head of State noted, they cannot even pass their hate gene on to their descendants, because there are none of them. These are marketers. These are people who lie and pretend.”
The MP explained why the President of Belarus is purposefully defending the peaceful development of events in the political arena, “Why is Lukashenko for peace? This is because his children, if something had happened in Belarus, would have been among the first to go to the frontline. He voiced that more than once. I know that it would have been so, because his children served in the Belarusian army, his children have always been here, defending the interests of the republic. Where are Zelenskyy's children? Where are the children of the Ukrainian top officials? Where are the children of Western politicians who are shouting so loudly about the war? They have either no children, or these children are hiding somewhere and will never go to any war.”
