Most Germans aged 18-30 don’t trust their government, poll shows

More than half of German young people do not trust their country’s government – according to the results of a survey conducted by the Bertelsmann Stiftung foundation, RIA Novosti reports

The study showed that almost every second resident of Germany aged between 18 and 30 (52 percent) does not trust the German government. Moreover, 42 percent of respondents do not have confidence in the German parliament: the Bundestag. At the same time, the survey results indicate that 62 percent of those polled trust the European Union, and 59 percent trust the institution of democracy as a whole.

Moreover, it turned out that 51 percent of German youth are concerned about human rights violations, while 45 percent worry about climate change, and the same number about the harassment problem.

The online study was conducted by the Dutch market research institute Glocalities from February to April 2023, involving 516 Germans aged 18- 30, with statistical error not provided.
