Moscow’s delegation of Historical Memory Preservation Foundation visited Belarus
Representatives of the Foundation of Historical Memory Preservation and Support of Patriotic Initiatives from Russia – Peace for Life – visited Belarus’ Mogilev Region once again. Since 2011, such trips are organised by the organisation as part of its We Remember. That's How the War Began programme.
As reported by the Mogilev District Executive Committee, this year marked the 81st anniversary of the people's militia divisions’ formation. They played a significant role in the defence of Moscow in 1941, and Russian citizens celebrate Memory Day of Moscow People's Militia every October 11th.
On November 2nd-5th 2022, the descendants of the militia, university and school teachers made a trip to the memorable places of Russia’s Smolensk Region and Belarus, including the locations of concentration camps where the militia fighters from the Vyazma encirclement were kept – as part of the programme initiated by the Moscow City Duma and the Moscow government.
On November 5th, forty-eight members of the Russian delegation visited the Buinichi field, the memorial sites of Mogilev, laid flowers at the monuments and mass grave in Lazarenko Street, and then went to Krichev.
