Missile strike launched on US base in Syria
The US base was fired at by several missiles in Syria’s north-eastern Deir ez-Zor governorate, RIA Novosti reports
According to several sources, five people were injured as a result of the shelling.
Earlier, the Pentagon reported that the United States conducted airstrikes on the formations associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Syria in response to an Iranian drone attack on a coalition base, as a result of which one American soldier was killed and six were injured. According to the US Department of Defence, the drone attacked a maintenance facility at a coalition base in Syria’s north-eastern Al-Hasakah governorate on March 23rd. According to the intelligence community, the UAV was of Iranian origin.
The US armed forces illegally control territories in the north and north-east of Syria in the areas of Deir ez-Zor, Al-Hasakah and Raqqa, where the country’s largest oil and gas fields are located.
