Mezentsev: supplies of Belarus’ equipment help develop St. Petersburg infrastructure
Deliveries of Belarusian-made equipment to St. Petersburg contribute to the implementation of ambitious plans for the development of the infrastructure in this Russian city – as noted by State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev at a meeting with St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov, sb.by reports with reference to the Union State Standing Committee website
During the meeting, it was stated that the co-operation agreement between the governments of Belarus and St. Petersburg is being implemented in full, and co-operation will soon expand.
“This is in many ways an example for the system of relations between the subjects of the Russian Federation and the regions of the Republic of Belarus,” Mr. Mezentsev underlined.
According to the State Secretary of the Union State, deliveries of Belarusian-made electric buses, buses and road construction equipment to St. Petersburg contribute to the implementation of ambitious plans for the development of the Russian city’s infrastructure.
Mr. Mezentsev also expressed confidence that Mr. Beglov’s proposal to invite Belarusian schoolchildren – participants of historical Olympiads – to St. Petersburg during the school holidays will be warmly welcomed in Belarus.
It is reported that during the conversation, the Governor of St. Petersburg noted Belarus’ contribution to the construction of the so-called Belarusian quarter in one of the new districts of St. Petersburg, stressing that the quality of the builders’ work is really high.
Mr. Mezentsev said that the day before, Rector of St. Petersburg State University, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolai Kropachev had a substantial discussion with Rector of the Belarusian State University Andrei Korol. The two sides discussed the practice of co-operation between St. Petersburg State University and Belarusian universities, as well as the initiative of St. Petersburg University to liaise between two leading universities of fraternal countries in terms of improving joint educational programmes for Russian and Belarusian students,” the Union State Standing Committee informed.
Mr. Beglov spoke about how the city, together with Russia’s Culture Ministry, is preparing for the 10th St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum, in which a representative Belarusian delegation is expected to take part.
