“The two presidents defined the next stage of integration work for the government, for the union government, for the governments of Belarus and Russia, for three years, up to and including 2026. Those 11 areas were specified in the most important document adopted by the Supreme State Council, including issues that previously had never been attributed to the competence of governments. Tourism, education, sports, and humanitarian co-operation are also very important, and maybe this is what characterises the integration work of Belarus and Russia,” Dmitry Mezentsev stated.
The State Secretary also added that the Union State has made significant progress in these areas over the past few years, and this is not a response to sanctions, but following the plans outlined.
The discussion also touched upon the cancellation of roaming. Mr. Mezentsev stressed that there is progress in this direction, as the price for a call originating from Belarus was ‘prohibitive’ a couple of years ago, “The operators have reported that they have reduced this cost by 24-30 times. It is true, but now the question is about Internet traffic. It is a difficult problem that concerns a number of issues, both technical and commercial.”
