Metropolitan Veniamin: some countries failed to learn Great Patriotic War lessons
Speaking at a meeting of the Advisory Interfaith Council under the Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs recently, the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, made a statement
“We are trying to draw the right conclusions from the events of the Great Patriotic War so that this does not happen again. However, we see that there are prerequisites for this now, and they indicate that this process has not stopped over the past 80 years. The Nuremberg Tribunal condemned the Nazi invaders on the territory of the Soviet Union and the whole of Europe, for which this topic turned out to be unexplored and undeveloped. Our memory is to bear witness to these countries and peoples about what really happened,” Metropolitan Veniamin said.
As noted by the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, in order to preserve memory, it is necessary to properly educate the younger generation so that they know the history of their country and draw the right conclusions by observing the processes taking place in the neighbouring Western states.
