Media: Zelenskyy announced AFU preparation for counteroffensive towards Crimea
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with Finnish Yle and other Scandinavian media that he believes in the success of the AFU counteroffensive which should allegedly allow Kiev to seize Crimea, RIA Novosti reports
"Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine is planning a counteroffensive, noting that, in his opinion, it will be able to push back Russian forces and also return the Crimean Peninsula,” Yle reads.
Moreover, according to the media, Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes the success of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will largely depend on military assistance from the collective West, and the conflict may continue for years or even decades.
As noted by RIA Novosti, prospects for the Ukrainian counteroffensive are assessed sceptically in Crimea, since Russian troops have built a modern and deeply echeloned defence.
