Media: US satellites to track Russian and Chinese spacecraft
The United States plans to launch satellites in the summer to track Russian and Chinese spacecraft that may pose a potential threat to American orbital objects, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Bloomberg
"The US Space Forces intend to launch a group of satellites this summer to track Chinese or Russian spacecraft that could potentially disable or damage orbital objects," the source said.
The satellite launch project is being developed by the Space Forces together with the National Directorate of Military Space Intelligence. The initiative will be called Silent Barker. The launch of a group of satellites is planned ‘after July’ with the help of the Atlas V launch vehicle. The satellites will rotate in orbit at a distance of 35.4 thousand kilometres from Earth.
