Media: US does not have enough money to deal with natural disasters
The United States is experiencing great financial problems related to overcoming the consequences of natural disasters – according to journalist Zoë Schlanger’s publication for The Atlantic, RIA Novosti reports
“Each time, the country manages to scrape by, finding more money to help people who need it <...> However, at some point, these fixes may become either unsustainable or so normalised as to be de facto policy,” the journalist underlined.
Schlanger is sure that due to serious climate changes, the country is threatened by new natural disasters, which will require billions of US Dollars to combat.
“This mismatch, between catastrophes the government has budgeted for and the actual toll of overlapping or supersize disasters, keeps happening — after Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Maria, Hurricane Florence,” the journalist noted.
