Media: speaking about talks with Russia, Zelenskyy preparing trap to blame it later for their failure
Volodymyr Zelenskyy intends to get the Russian leadership’s refusal to participate in the negotiations, so that he can then blame Moscow for their failure, RIA Novosti reports
“The invitation voiced by Zelenskyy is intended to demonstrate that he is meeting the Russians halfway, without renouncing the conditions previously put forward. If you do not open the door to talks, then at least prove that it is not closed forever. This is not about admitting weakness, but about holding Russia accountable. In case of refusal, the position of Moscow, not Kiev, will be considered counterproductive,” Emmanuel Dupuy, the President of the Institute for European Perspective and Security Studies in Europe (IPSE), noted in the Parisien edition.
Philippe Migault, the Director of the European Centre for Strategic Analysis, pointed out that Zelenskyy understands that the situation is extremely unfavourable for Ukraine, so the position on negotiations needs to be changed. The expert stressed that the Russian army is advancing along the entire front line and grinding the Armed Forces of Ukraine, occupying new frontiers.
