Media: Nigeria will start supplying LNG to Germany in 2026

Nigerian gas company Riverside LNG and German Johannes Schuetze Energy Import AG have signed an agreement on the supply of liquefied natural gas, TASS reports with reference to the Vanguard publication

It is noted that the first gas supplies from Nigeria to Germany will begin in 2026. According to the agreement between the countries, Nigeria will annually supply 850 thousand tonnes of LNG to Germany with a planned increase in exports to 1.2m tonnes per year.

According to the source, simultaneously with the gas contract, Germany and Nigeria signed an agreement on financing $500m worth of renewable energy projects in the West African country.

Nigeria enjoys the largest natural gas reserves in Africa and the ninth largest ones in the world, with proven reserves reaching 208 trillion cubic feet.
