Media: Ethiopia applied to join BRICS

Melesa Alema, the representative of the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry, said his country had applied to join BRICS, RIA Novosti reports

The Reporter edition quoted Melesa Alema as saying, “We have applied for membership in, and we hope for a good result... As we strive to guarantee our national interests, it is important to join such blocs as BRICS.”

It is also reported that, among the countries that have applied to join BRICS, there are Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Indonesia, and Algeria.

BRICS unites Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. A number of other countries also intend to join the economic bloc, including Argentina and Iran, as well as Indonesia, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
