Media: BRICS expansion means new era starts in world relations
The expansion of the BRICS represents a historic event – the beginning of a new era in world economic relations, TASS reports with reference to the Midi Madagasikara publication
Earlier it became known that Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Ethiopia joined the BRICS.
According to the source, the integration of the new countries has already inspired many admiring comments. The accession indicates ‘the geopolitical ambitions of the association and serves as a serious signal of the growing influence of developing economies on the world stage’. The publication emphasises that this is ‘a historic decision marking the beginning of a new era in world economic relations’.
In addition, it is reported that about 40 countries have expressed a desire to join the BRICS, and this indicates a growing importance of the developing countries on the world stage. The BRICS association, ‘which accounts for a quarter of the world's wealth and 42 percent of the world's population, can be proud of its attractiveness to other states’.
