MAZ stepping up co-operation with educational institutions
The Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) is strengthening its collaboration with educational establishments to train qualified workers and also ensure employment for students and young professionals
A round table discussion on the topic has been organised at the plant. As informed by MAZ media department, representatives of the Republican Institute of Vocational Education, Minsk State Auto-Mechanical College, Minsk State Vocational Lyceum of Engineering Industry No. 9 joined the Minsk Automobile Plant specialists to agree on the organisation and timing of students’ industrial practices. Motivation of young employees and retraining of plant workers were also discussed, in addition to the methods of promotion of working professions among schoolchildren and students.
As informed at the meeting, more than 30 percent of young graduates of the Minsk State Auto-Mechanical College start their professional activity at MAZ. For example, a unique training centre for production technologies has been launched at the College as part of the MAZ-Weichai investment project. It trains qualified employees to work in the assembly production of modern automobile engines. The centre’s structure and equipment make it possible to prepare specialists able to manage the latest equipment and technological processes.
MAZ actively interacts with higher educational establishments. It’s been informed that, two years ago, the Automobiles Department of the Belarusian National Technical University resumed its work on the basis of the plant and, owing to the involvement of highly qualified specialists, the educational process now enables students to gain practical experience. Future engineers acquire the skills of practical work in a team, learn to understand the key of problems and prospects for the development of automotive technology – while preparing their theses and conducting joint research.
