Marrero Cruz: Golovchenko’s visit to Cuba once again confirms that our countries boast excellent relations

The visit of Belarus’ PM to Cuba once again confirms that excellent relations exist between our countries, presidents and peoples – as stated by Cuban PM Manuel Marrero Cruz at a meeting with Belarusian Head of Government Roman Golovchenko

“Your visit once again confirms that excellent relations exist between our countries, presidents and peoples. These are historical ties. There are a lot of things that connect us: we defend the same thing, supporting each other,” the Cuban PM said. “Our countries have great potential to expand and develop economic, trade and financial relations. We see progress in our bilateral relations, but it is necessary to move forward.”

Manuel Marrero Cruz highly appreciated the meeting of the Belarusian-Cuban Joint Commission on Trade-Economic Co-operation held in Minsk in June.

He recalled that four temporary bilateral working groups had been established as a result of the meeting. The first deals with agriculture, the second direction is co-operation in the financial and banking sector, the third covers liaisons in the sci-tech sphere, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, while the fourth group supervises industrial production of agricultural equipment and joint projects in the agricultural sector.

“It’s gratifying for us today to sign a bilateral economic agenda within the framework of this visit, which is a basic tool in order to have guidelines in our work in the short, medium and long term. It will be like a roadmap enabling us to progress further on,” Manuel Marrero Cruz said.

Following the meeting with Cuba’s PM, it is planned to sign a number of international legal documents, including the programme of bilateral trade, economic, sci-tech co-operation between the Governments of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Cuba for 2024-2030.
