Malkina: EAEU intensifies ties with African countries
It was decided to intensify international co-operation between the EAEU and African countries – as stated by the official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission Iya Malkina following the results of the EEC Council’s meeting
“Taking into account the results of the Second Russia-Africa Summit, held in St. Petersburg on July 27th-28th, at the proposal of the Russian side, supported by all members of the Council, the EEC – together with the authorised bodies of the EAEU member states – was instructed to prepare proposals for the comprehensive promotion of the development of trade-economic liaisons with integration associations and individual African countries and intensify work on concluding a memorandum of understanding between the EEC and the African Union Commission (AUC), as well as agreeing on co-operation plans.
According to her, it is planned to work out the possibility of interaction between the EEC and the African Export-Import Bank on promoting the growth of mutual trade.
“It’s also planned to strengthen collaboration between the business circles of the EAEU and the African continent, including by sending business missions of the EAEU members to African countries,” added Iya Malkina.
