Malaysia to become one of global leaders in microchip production
The Malaysian government intends to increase the scale of production of integrated circuits in order to become one of the world leaders in this area, TASS reports
“We have several initiatives at the Ministry of Economy aimed at developing integrated circuits and increasing the scale of their production. Of course, it will take some time, but I think that <...> it will give Malaysia an opportunity to take a more prominent place in the field of integrated circuit development in the world,” Malaysian Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli said during the opening ceremony of the national integrated circuits design park.
The head of the economic department also added that the Malaysian authorities want to make the country ‘as well-known in the technology industry as the current giants of the industry’.
According to the forecasts of the Statista portal, the integrated circuit market in Malaysia will grow by 6.32 percent in 2024-2029, leading to an increase in its volume to $4.8bn by 2029.
