Makei in interview with Iranian news agency: the world needs new international order
The world needs a new international order, which should be based on the generally accepted principles of the UN Charter. But now, taking into account the changed situation, it is necessary to increase the role of universal organisations – as stated by Belarus’ Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei in an interview with the Iranian Parliament news agency.
“There is a reformatting of international relations. The situation that existed before, namely, the dominance of the so-called collective West for 500 years is absolutely unacceptable. Because, in violation of all the principles of international law, the West is trying to impose its policy, its vision of the development of the situation, its will on our sovereign countries, without paying attention to the traditions, customs, morals, and psychological characteristics of our peoples. This is absolutely unacceptable,” the Head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry stressed.
Vladimir Makei noted that in this situation, the idea of the President of Belarus, expressed just some time ago, about the need for a wide-ranging international dialogue in the spirit of San Francisco deserves special attention.
“In 1945, when the UN was founded, the leaders of the opposing powers found the political will and courage in themselves to sit down at the table and agree on the principles of the future world order. This is the kind of political will that is needed now. Unfortunately, we do not yet see this from our Western partners. But we are ready for this,” Vladimir Makei underlined.
