Lukashenko outlined top priority in activities of all leaders: working with people

Working with people is a top priority in the activities of all heads – as noted by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko during today’s meeting, focusing on topical domestic political issues and preparations for the political campaigns. The heads of the houses of Parliament, the Head of the Belarus President Administration, the State Secretary of the Security Council, the chairs of the Central Election Commission (CEC) and the State Security Committee (KGB) have been invited to the Palace of Independence.

Starting the conversation, the Head of State noted, “I think we’ll hold a series of similar meetings dealing with the major event of 2025: the presidential election. Today is the first such meeting where we must define the main outlines of our work, not the holding of the event itself — the presidential election – but exactly the work. There may be some plan.”

At the same time, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that more thorough decisions will have to be adopted in an expanded format, involving governors, President’s aides for regions, and government representatives.

As far as the current event is concerned, the Head of State noted, “We won’t have a full conversation today, and we are not ready for it. And as for the general outlines, concepts, perhaps we can discuss this today. Autumn is the time to sum up the results and build a strategy for the coming year. Therefore, our most important task is to finish this year properly and start next year. The results of the presidential election will largely depend on this. Working with people is a top priority in the activities of all heads – regional, local vertical, of central bodies.”

“You are aware of my approaches. People need to be listened to, people need to be talked to and people need to receive proper responses to the questions they pose to us,” the President reminded.

Aleksandr Lukashenko focused on two important issues, “Firstly, I would like to know which questions are the most pressing at the moment. Secondly, what is the effectiveness of working with such requests? It is on this that the authority of each local leader and the government as a whole depends.”

The Head of State continued, “It is clear that everyday life concerns always come to the forefront for any person. I’ve already talked about it. Some want to fix their roof, others want to put up a fence, and still others are missing something from the store, etc. Everything needs to be studied and sorted today. It is always necessary to do this and understand what we – the government – should organise, and what people should do themselves.”

The President drew attention to how people assess their lives and the work of various institutions, “What is important: people often judge prices not by statistics, but by their wallets, they judge the quality of education by communication with a particular teacher, the level of medicine is assessed judging by their polyclinic, and the power in the state is assessed judging by the actions of a single civil servant to whom they turn. I mean that everyone should work in this team. In general, we have organised work with citizens’ appeals at a systematic level. It is absolutely accessible to anyone.”
