Lukashenko: we will do everything to ensure peace in Ukraine
One of the topics of the meeting between President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was the situation in Ukraine – as the Belarusian leader stated following the official talks
The President said that he had informed his colleague ‘in the smallest details’ about the situation in the region in connection with the conflict in Ukraine, “Our assessments and points of view are either close or coincide. You know our position. It's not easy for us there now, but we will do everything to make peace there. We will move in this direction. Azerbaijan's experience of post-war recovery, peaceful development is very important for our region.”
The presidents touched upon the situation in the Caucasian region as well. Aleksandr Lukashenko is convinced that a powerful leader – represented by Azerbaijan – has come there, being able to control the area.
“You are already generally responsible for the situation in the Caucasus, which we (the peoples who do not live in the Caucasus) really hope for. This is an additional burden on you, although there are enough problems of your own. Nevertheless, there is no other way. Time has chosen you, as Belarusians say, and you are responsible for the Caucasus region as a leader," the Head of State addressed Ilham Aliyev.
