Welcoming the guests at the Independence Palace, the Head of State noted that Belarus views Kuban as one of the key regions in Russia, through which it is possible to work for neighbouring regions.

“The formula is simple, and the reason is clear why we were persistently interested in your visit to Belarus,” the Belarusian leader noted. “Kuban is well known as the breadwinner, the advanced region of the Russian Federation in all respects. So that you understand, we have recently made too many promises to the regions of Russia, and we are guided by the principle that all agreements concluded must be met. Recently, we have come to the conclusion that we need to determine key regions in Russia from where we can work for neighbouring territories. We consider Kuban as a key region where we should take root – in the same way as St. Petersburg and the surrounding regions in the north, for example – to make our logistics convenient.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko outlined exactly how he sees the role of the Krasnodar Krai in deepening co-operation with other regions of Russia, “This includes not just bringing the equipment and selling it. We want to create a certain hub with you there, as we want to do in Equatorial Guinea. We are ready to create several such large centres in Russia and, together with you, to produce equipment and train your people, if necessary, there. If retraining is needed, we will do this as well. We are ready for this.”

Krasnodar Krai is one of the most promising trade partners of Belarus in the Russian Federation. In 2022, the trade turnover increased by 60 percent to make almost $557m. The results of the first seven months of this year also show positive dynamics: $337m+ with a growth rate of 24.8 percent.
