Lukashenko warns wild politicians in Poland on consequences of their threats
The Head of State made a relevant statement on meeting the Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, Vladimir Karanik, and the President's Aide – Inspector for the Grodno Region, Yuri Karayev, with a report today. Speaking about the situation on the border, Aleksandr Lukashenko commented on the threats coming from Poland against Belarus.
“You probably hear that constant threats are coming from these wild politicians and heads of Poland. They speak of closing the border and the Kuznitsa railway border checkpoint. And so on and so forth. In this regard, I can say simply: they are welcome to close. If it looks more convenient for them – then close it. However, they need primarily to think of how they will communicate with Russia, China, and the East in general. They will go via Donbass. The guys there are tough and they will quickly show them their place. I’m talking of Donbass figuratively; no one is waiting for them there. Russia’s border with Ukraine is closed,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The Head of State added that Poland is trying to intimidate Belarus with statements of the kind, “They are playing to aggravate the situation – trying to solve their internal and external problems by putting pressure on Belarus and showing who is to blame for Poland's problems.”
According to the President, many problems have accumulated inside Poland, including abortion bans, farmers’ issues, public speeches in defence of refugees stranded on the border.
“They are talking about our elections but look back at how Duda won: there was a razor-thin margin. That was a total falsification. If Americans had not intervened, there would have been a massacre there worse than... Everything that happened in Belarus in 2020 would not compare. However, the United States interfered, ordered to let Duda work until the opposition would come to power. Everything is externally manageable there. They are criticising us. What for? They rigged the elections, put Duda in power. He has already begun his tour across the Baltic States – gathering some kind of coalition from ‘morza to morza’ [translated from Polish as ‘sea to sea’]. There will be no this ‘morza to morza’!”
The President stressed that, in addition to distracting the attention of its citizens from internal problems, Poland is simply trying to cadge billions worth of funding out of the European Union. The country is not given this money as it fails to meet the EU standards.
“That's why I honestly and frankly say that I gave an order through all channels to prevent them from using Belarus, the topics of the border and migrants in their games,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
