Lukashenko: unity is major condition for our development as nation

The Red Army’s liberation campaign 85 years ago launched the revival of the lost internal integrity of the Fatherland – as stated by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko during today’s If We Are United large-scale patriotic forum dedicated to National Unity Day

The Head of State stressed that over the past decades, the Belarusian people have endured many trials, creating a unique space for dreams and for life at the crossroads of civilisations and paving their way to happiness in a continuous struggle for freedom, a better life and a native home.

“Belarusians overcame each of the stages of this difficult path with dignity, relying on the love of peace and truth, justice and patriotism, mutual respect and good neighbourliness. We did not rely on aggression, cruelty, and superiority in relation to other countries and nations. We are united in our desire to live on our native land with our mind and work. Unity is the major condition for our development as a nation. Therefore, neither the brown plague, nor the dashing 1990s, nor pandemics, nor attempts at colour riots, nor predatory sanctions and military threats overcame us,” the President underlined.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, National Unity Day reminds us today that no borders and no trials can break the spirit of the people if our Belarus is in the heart of each of us.

“And now the main words for us: we need not to be shy about being Belarusians and stop constantly turning back either to the depths of centuries or to the sides. We have something that unites us and makes us happy in our native land. This is a glorious legacy of our ancestors and no less striking achievements of our contemporaries,” the Head of State emphasised.
