Lukashenko to new Taxes and Duties Minister: tax system must be fair

When making personnel decisions today, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko said that a stable tax system has been formed in the country, and it should be fair

Dmitry Kiyko, who previously served as the First Deputy Finance Minister, has been appointed as the new Minister of Taxes and Duties. Touching upon the state of affairs in the tax sphere, the Head of State noted, “We have a more or less stable tax system, but nevertheless take a fresh look at what needs to be done. I also orientate you not to suffer from excessive market categories. We need a normal life and normal operation of businesses. A lot depends on taxation, if not everything at times.”

The President tasked the new minister to analyse the current tax system and directly make suggestions and comments, if necessary.

“It is the most important area of work. The tax system must be fair. I won’t say that everything is fair here. Look at the benefits that we have ‘imposed’ on many enterprises that should not have these benefits... As far as the population is concerned, those who should have support and benefits should have them, those who have no right for these should not have them. People must work and support the state. At this time, we really need it in all directions,” the President stressed.
