Lukashenko: the day of reunification of eastern and western Belarus has become symbol of our national unity
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has presented today state awards to honoured figures in various fields, with the solemn ceremony taking place on the eve of an important holiday – National Unity Day
In this regard, the Head of State underlined, “The day of reunification of eastern and western Belarus – September 17th, 1939 – has become a symbol of our national unity – not subject to time. But this experience tells us that it is no less important to be together in times of peace, working for the good of our people and the Fatherland. We must live in such a way that we never repeat the mistakes of the past, in order to be strong in the face of new threats and challenges of the time, in order to preserve our peaceful, amazingly beautiful Belarus for our children and grandchildren. We must live in such a way that both we and those who come after us won’t feel ashamed.”
