Lukashenko: strict liability will be placed on long-delayed construction
The problem of long-delayed construction still remains unresolved: there are 1,658 unfinished construction projects in Belarus, including 22 multi-apartment residential buildings – as stated by President Aleksandr Lukashenko while being reported on the country's construction complex development
In particular, one of the issues discussed today with the President’s participation dealt with the 2022 results. “Openly speaking, they are not pleasing in the construction sphere. As I have been informed, they dropped against the 2021 level. At least you have failed to reach the set goal,” he noted.
“We have practically achieved everything,” Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak responded. “We will report [to you on that]. There is a main indicator there that we have not reached…”
Aleksandr Lukashenko commented, “The main indicator is that you are starting to generate long–delayed construction in the country again. Incomplete construction projects are registered, and among them there are even 22 residential buildings, including nineteen in Minsk. That’s an outrage! We promised people that we would finish construction of residential buildings on time, but we are not launching them. There are also other unfinished objects. There will be a serious liability for this. I do not want a repeat of what happened a few years ago, when we gathered people and sent them to work at some unfinished construction objects.”
In general, as the President stated, the problem related to long-delayed construction has not been put to rights. “There are 1,658 such objects, of which 22 are apartment buildings,” he said.
Another issue under consideration at today’s meeting dealt with housing construction plans – in particular, in connection with building of accommodation for large families and the military – who, as the Belarusian leader recalled, ‘had been promised to be provided with housing on a first-priority basis’.
