Lukashenko signed Security Council resolution approving draft National Security Concept and Military Doctrine
The Chairman of the Security Council, Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko, signed a resolution of the Security Council, which approved the draft National Security Concept and Military Doctrine of Belarus discussed at a meeting of the Security Council on January 16th, the Belarusian leader’s press service reports
The Head of State approved the draft National Security Concept, finalised by the State Secretariat of the Security Council together with interested government agencies and other organisations following its public discussion.
The draft Military Doctrine reflects key changes in the military-political situation in the world and in the region, the foundations of Belarus' military policy, national views on maintaining international peace and stability, ensuring the military security of Belarus and its armed protection.
In line with the document, the Defence Ministry is to finalise the draft Military Doctrine, taking into account the Security Council members’ comments.
Both documents will further be submitted for approval by the Belarusian People's Congress, as envisaged by the updated Constitution of Belarus.
The State Secretary of the Security Council and the Defence Ministry should submit to the President of Belarus, in accordance with the established procedure, draft National Security Concepts and Military Doctrine, as well as decisions of the Belarusian People's Congress on their approval, by March 25th, 2024.
