Lukashenko signed decree to grant citizenship to 257 people from 16 countries

On November 22nd, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko signed decrees on granting citizenship and asylum, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service

The Head of State has granted applications for the admission of foreign citizens and stateless persons residing in our country to the citizenship of Belarus.

A total of 257 people became new citizens of Belarus, including 15 minors. Persons arriving from 16 states acquired Belarusian citizenship: Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Syria, Palestine and others.

In addition, the President granted asylum in Belarus to Tomasz Szmydt, who is being persecuted for political reasons in Poland.
