Lukashenko: security will be effective if the economy functions well

Belarus and Iran should not allow a slowdown in trade and economic relations – as stated by President Aleksandr Lukashenko during his today’s meeting with the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Akbar Ahmadian

Addressing the guest, the Head of State stressed, “I think you will agree that security will be effective only if the economy is functioning well, if trade and economic relations between the countries are very serious and dynamically developing. We see a steady increase in trade between our states, and the most important task for us is to prevent a slowdown in trade and economic relations, since they are the basis, the foundation of our interaction.”

During the visit of the Belarusian leader to Tehran in March last year, a roadmap for comprehensive co-operation between Belarus and Iran for 2023-2026 was signed. Last year, the trade turnover amounted to $109.9m, which was almost 10 percent more than in 2022.
