Lukashenko's message on development of bilateral relations conveyed to Indian PM
Belarus’ Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik held talks with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on March 12th in Delhi, and Aleksandr Lukashenko’s message on Belarusian-Indian relations and ways of their development was delivered to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sb.by reports with reference to the Foreign Ministry
The parties devoted their meeting to a substantive discussion of a large-scale package of bilateral, regional and global issues – focusing on economic co-operation and specific bilateral projects. A complete coincidence of approaches to the need to intensify liaisons was recognised. Concrete steps were outlined, and sectors were identified for applying the main efforts in the near and medium term.
Attention was paid to inter-regional and parliamentary relations, inventory of the legal framework, humanitarian co-operation, including training of Indian students in Belarus. An agreement was reached to start a dialogue on further simplification of the visa regime in order to increase mutual tourist flows.
Mr. Aleinik expressed gratitude to his colleague for his consistent support of the process of Belarus' accession to the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation, as well as for the principled positive stance on the republic’s accession to BRICS.
In addition, the foreign ministers discussed co-operation between the EAEU and India, as well as within the framework of other multilateral formats. They discussed in detail the regional situation, global and food security issues, current crisis phenomena in international relations, and the global economy.
The diplomats confirmed their coinciding positions on fundamental aspects of world politics, including the need to build a more just and sustainable world order based on multipolarity and sovereign equality of states, a balance of interests and respect for international law.
During the official visit to Delhi, the Belarusian delegation also held talks with the Indian Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Chemicals and Fertilisers, Mansukh Mandaviya, focusing on food security, supplies of Belarusian equipment, as well as co-operation in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. A number of agreements were reached, and they will be further worked out within the framework of sectoral co-operation and contacts between business circles and relevant associations of the two countries.
