Lukashenko reported by Chairman of House of Representatives
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has been reported today by Igor Sergeyenko, the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus
The meeting focused on the legislative activities of parliamentarians, preparations for the second session, as well as the development of international contacts. First of all, Aleksandr Lukashenko asked how the deputies (those who were elected for the first time) got settled in their new place of work and asked about their living conditions. The Head of State also addressed a separate question to Igor Sergeyenko, “How did you get settled there? After all, you have had such a change in work in recent years: from an absolutely closed, quiet job [in the State Security Committee] to the most difficult job in the President Administration [before being elected to Parliament, Igor Sergeyenko headed the Belarus President Administration], and then to the House of Representatives. These are such sharp turns in life that it hasn’t been easy for you. So how do you like working there? How does the House of Representatives work? Of course, the main item is legislative activity. How are things going here? Do you need any help and support, because a lot of deputies were elected for the first time, and they have no experience of parliamentary work. Are there any problems in this regard?”
The Head of State also asked how Igor Sergeyenko sees the work of deputies in the centre and in the districts in the future.
“It’s very important now to promote parliamentarian work at the international level,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added. “After all, people’s diplomacy – headed by deputies – is very important now, and it gives its effect. You can see this in the work of our senators. I think the House of Representatives should also act in this direction.”
