Lukashenko presented with symbolic key to new section of third metro line

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has taken part in the opening of a new section of the third line of the Minsk metro today

A key manufactured by Minskmetrostroy unitary enterprise using two types of stones has become the symbol of the opening of the Aerodromnaya, Nemorshansky Sad, and Slutsky Gostinets stations. It was solemnly presented to the Head of State by the company’s General Director, Vasily Kosovets. Aleksandr Lukashenko, in turn, handed the key over to Aleksei Shilov, the General Director of the Minsk Metro.

Construction of a 4.08km section of the third line of the Minsk metro stretching from Aerodromnaya station to Slutsky Gostinets station through Nemorshansky Sad began in August 2017. About 5,000 workers from various industries and 60 subcontractors were involved to construct, decorate, install and commission the equipment, and landscape the territories. About 90 percent of the equipment and materials used in the construction are of Belarusian production.

The third metro line unites technological solutions of a new technical level, as well as high automation of management and control processes of engineering equipment. Intelligent systems of train traffic control, fare payment, fire safety, and new means of transmitting and processing data on the operation of all metro systems have been introduced here. To ensure the safety of passengers, the stations are equipped with platform edge doors.
