The Head of State noted that our fugitives cannot wait to take the President of Belarus out of the arena of political actions, “They have agreed that Lithuania – as it was on the eve or in the first days of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine – will initiate consideration of the Belarusian issue in the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Their goal is to hold Belarus’ President accountable and ‘remove him from the political agenda’. As they write, so that the President of Belarus, if peace talks begin in Ukraine, will not be able to take part in these negotiations. They know that we demand that Belarus’ interests be taken into account when concluding a peace treaty in Ukraine. They don’t see our representative office there. I want them to hear from this high rostrum today: we know about all their plans, and they won’t succeed. They will not be able to repeat what happened in 2020. We are people who know how to learn from the past."

Addressing the participants of the forum, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted, “Dear friends, I said this so that you and I could be heard. Usually, in this situation, they hear us, and they hear on time. The issues are serious, but this does not mean that you and those outside this hall should worry. We will do everything to ensure that there is no more war on our land: either in our generation or in your generation. We, the older generation, are full of desire to give you a peaceful, beautiful, decent land where you can live on your own and raise your children. No drones, no long-range missiles will help them in this. I swear to you that we have something to answer, to make them think before moving in our direction. Therefore, dear friends, I wish you all a festive mood, peace, happiness and prosperity. Live peacefully for a long time. Happy National Unity Day!”
