Lukashenko on extending family capital: I’ll be happy to take decision on supporting large families
It is proposed to preserve payments on family capital in Belarus – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during his today’s meeting with activists of the Belarusian Women’s Union public association
Director of the Stolin children’s art school Nina Voitekhovskaya noted that the family capital programme finishes this year. Hence the pressing question: will it be continued?
The Head of State recalled that when the decision was made to introduce family capital, there were about 63 thousand large families in the country. Today there are over 122 thousand, suggesting that this measure is effective. The Belarusian leader underlined that it is necessary nowadays to reverse the trend in the birth rate towards growth; in this regard, everything will be done for large families in terms of material assistance and support, “My attitude – and not only mine, it is also the attitude of the state – is to support large families and the military. I will be happy to take a decision to extend this family capital and support our families. The only condition is that this money should go to whoever needs it... We’ll preserve payments on family capital: this is my position.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko once again drew attention to ensuring that funds exactly reach the target and are spent directly on education, health, and housing issues. Unfortunately, there are facts when careless parents waste money and do not pay attention to their children. The Belarusian leader underlined, “We need to take such families under control locally.”
Chairperson of the Belarusian Women’s Union Olga Shpilevskaya, in turn, assured that more attention will be paid to such families.

“Please, take control and act! We need to protect our children,” the Head of State supported, adding that the country has practically settled the issue of housing for large families.
“This is the most important aspect. If there’s a home, there’s a family. We have solved this problem.”
The Belarusian leader added that the military is next in line, asserting that the issue will also be closed within two years.
