Lukashenko on exports: offer should be made in time against growing demand
While being reported today on some personnel-related issues within the Foreign Ministry structure, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko shared views on the tactics and strategy of exports that Belarusian diplomats abroad should be guided by
The President stressed that Belarus' foreign policy had been updated ‘taking into account the unsane, fascist sanctions imposed against our state’, “As I once told you, forget about these sanctions. There are none. What sort of sanction can we talk about? We have refocused our trade and economic activities. We are not a giant state. True, we sell a lot against what we produce – but the volumes are not huge.”
As for food exports, Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised that the demand for it will continue growing, “It is only necessary to offer [products] in time in places where the demand is growing.”
At the same time, the Head of State drew attention to the fact that the demand for food is now high not only in the countries of the far arc, but also among Belarus’ traditional partners: Russia and China. “[It is high] even in the European Union. They wanted to buy rapeseed oil (which accounts for a large share in exports) from us, and they are ready now as well. They continue importing, no one gives up this idea. In short, we need to be more active in order to export to the markets which are ready to buy from us,” he said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that, in order to produce milk and meat, mineral fertilisers and machinery are needed. In this regard, he gave a good piece of advice, “Learn from Russians how to sell civilian and military equipment in one package. Those who want to buy from us are welcome, we will sell the products they need, but ask to also import our other products as well.”
