Lukashenko on elections to Belarusians People’s Congress: there will be different points of view, but no enemies there
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, spoke of the 2024 elections to the Belarusian People's Congress while meeting with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Igor Karpenko, with a report
Aleksandr Lukashenko, in particular, noted, “Formation of the Belarusian People's Congress is a separate issue. We are laying a certain foundation in this matter, gaining experience – so we should take this very carefully. Much is defined in the Constitution and laws: the number, how and whom to elect from, and so on. There are no disputes here. It is also necessary to openly and honestly hold elections to the Belarusian People's Congress. It will include different people, and – I believe – there will be different points of view. Importantly, no enemies will be present there. We do not need enemies, and our society does need them as well. Meanwhile, there should be different points of view, so that we make right decisions.”
Mr. Karpenko reported that systematic work on the preparation of election campaigns is already underway. “By September 1st, we will establish the number of voters and the number of councils of deputies which will be elected. By October 1st, the boundaries of districts for the election of deputies of the House of Representatives will be outlined; there will be 110 of them in total, as before,” he informed.
