Lukashenko on co-operation in construction industry
Aleksandr Lukashenko has met today with Voronezh Region Governor Alexander Gusev to substantively discuss interaction in construction
The President underlined, “Obviously, one of the leading topics is collaboration in the construction industry. You know well how Belarusian builders can work. You have already seen it. In terms of price and quality, Belarusians probably have no equals. The culture of construction is also at the appropriate level.”
The Belarusian Head of State noted that in Soviet times, our country was the school of construction, “This is not the achievement of mine, or the current minister, or the Government. Namely, this is the legacy from those times. The value is that we didn’t destroy this school, but we have preserved it. Moreover, I am more and more convinced that this has become possible because we have not destroyed the state building institutions. As we had construction trusts, we still have them, but they have risen to a higher level.”
The Belarusian leader added that if a private company has the same base, it takes part in construction and competes, “We do not infringe on private companies.”
At the same time, serious requirements are imposed on developers, enabling to avoid fraudulent schemes which, as a result, affects the cost of housing.
“They criticise us for having ‘dictatorship, not a market economy’… The main thing is that there is an effect. Therefore, we are working carefully,” Aleksandr Lukashenko summed up.
Belarusian builders are currently constructing three facilities in Voronezh: a stadium and two schools, one of which is for 3,000 schoolchildren. As Belarus’ Architecture and Construction Ruslan Parkhamovich assured during the meeting, both schools will be put into operation in mid-2023.
