Lukashenko, Khurelsukh visited Mongolian Culture Centre
On the final day of his state visit to Mongolia, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and his Mongolian counterpart Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh arrived at the Mongolian Culture Centre, where the Belarusian leader continued to get acquainted with the history, original traditions and customs of the people of Mongolia
The President of Mongolia personally met his Belarusian counterpart. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh planted Siberian fir trees and then continued their communication, watching a theatrical performance and sports competitions.
In fact, a programme of the Mongolian national Naadam (literally translated from Mongolian as ‘three men's games’) festival held annually in July was recreated for the heads of state. It unites not only competitions in national sports (wrestling, archery and horse racing), but also a costumed parade of extraordinary beauty and scope, musical compositions and choreographic performances. Plunging into the atmosphere of the Naadam festival is another opportunity to truly understand the Mongolian people, culture and traditions of the nomads.
Mongolian wrestling was a particularly spectacular sight. It has no weight categories and, depending on the number of victories, wrestlers are awarded various titles: ‘falcon’, ‘elephant’, ‘lion’, and ‘giant’.
Aleksandr Lukashenko was also shown a traditional Mongolian bow for shooting. The presidents first watched the shooting of the masters, and then took a shot themselves. Moreover, the arrow sent by Aleksandr Lukashenko flew more than 75 metres, arousing applause among those present.
