Lukashenko instructed Belaruskali CEO to think over reduction in potash mining
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has instructed the new Head of Belaruskali, Andrei Rybakov, to work out the issue of a possible reduction in potash mining
The Head of State described the new CEO as a thoughtful person who seriously delves into any problem. Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the need to reduce costs at the enterprise, increase the added value of products per employee and restore order in subordinate organisations.
In addition, the President drew attention to the need to work out the issue of potash mining with those whom it is necessary (especially Russians), proceeding from the current prices on potash fertilisers. “I can hardly recall such prices: they are very low. Maybe we should consult with Russians and cut the production of potash fertilisers by 10-11 percent. By reducing production, there will be not just a shortage on the market: everyone will understand that these are expensive products, and the corresponding price should be paid for them,” he said.
According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, a similar approach was applied some time ago. “It is necessary to negotiate lower volumes with the producers of potash fertilisers. What is the need to sell this product for a song, almost at cost, or even lower sometimes? Consult and prepare a report, we will make appropriate decisions then. The main point is to ensure that people will not suffer. Salaries must be paid on time, and so on. Work through this issue,” the Head of State addressed Mr. Rybakov.
