Lukashenko: in no case should we destroy vocational education
The country's vocational education system should not be eliminated – as stated by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko at the Republican Pedagogical Council today
During the pedagogical council, Inessa Kuzmina, the Director of the Minsk State College of Innovative Construction Technologies named after N.M. Zhizhel, made a report, and the Head of State asked her whether the decision to provide vocational education in colleges was right. “In no case should we destroy vocational education,” he stressed.
The Belarusian leader noted that the republic has preserved vocational education after the USSR collapse, “We also have a problem [of shortage] of working professions, craftsmen, foremen… It exists, but this problem is not so acute. After all, we have a base, and so we – even through a ‘dictatorship’ – can train more workers, craftsmen, foremen. It is an extremely important link!”
Aleksandr Lukashenko is convinced that colleges provide an excellent base for further admission to universities. Moreover, specialists who are really in love with their profession graduate from colleges. “They do not need to be agitated. They will not turn to another profession. Therefore, it is very important for us to preserve this stage between school and university,” he stressed.
The President demanded that colleges determine the personnel customers, also instructing the Government to pay attention to this problem and assign specific farms or organisations to colleges.
