Lukashenko held meeting with Tarpishchev
Today, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has met with President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpishchev
After the meeting, the Russian guest told reporters about some of the details of the conversation, “First of all, we are old friends and discussed, primarily, our tennis affairs in the world. Because if we take the results of Belarusian and Russian tennis players, then we are the strongest in the world. We almost won everything. Of course, in such a difficult time, it was necessary to shift the calendar in order to support children aged 13-19, enabling them not to fall out of orbit. Accordingly, we’ve united our efforts for joint competitions and training camps. At present, we hold more than 3,000 tournaments in Russia. The interest is not to lose the system and methodology that we have developed. I think that we will not fail in tennis, we have a lot of stars.”
Moreover, Shamil Tarpishchev added, the day after tomorrow, a tennis tournament for the Cup of the Russian Embassy in Belarus will start in Minsk. Sixteen pairs of tennis players will take part in the two-day competitions, including well-known politicians, business representatives, and public figures.
“We held such a tournament in Saransk a month ago, before that – in Veliky Novgorod. It’s already a tradition. It contributes to the development of tennis in the regions, showing that tennis is a diplomatic sport and is submissive to any age.”
