Lukashenko: God saved Belarus in 2020; otherwise there would have been war

At today’s meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, President Aleksandr Lukashenko said that God helped Belarus in 2020; otherwise there would have been war, BelTA reports

“God helped us in 2020 [referring to a failed coup d’état attempt]. If we had not withstood then, there would have been war here. They [opponents] would have dragged NATO troops here. Just imagine Russia’s reaction towards NATO troops near Smolensk. It would have been a nuclear war,” the President said. “We withstood. God helped us. It was not the President running with a machine gun and with his child... No. It was God who simply protected us.”

“Today the situation is even more dangerous because we don’t see it. We don’t see even half of it, including me though I possess much information. Therefore, we need to be careful. We are walking on thin ice. One wrong move and we’ll fail. No one will save us. We won’t be able to defend and save ourselves. The sharks around are such that they will eat us before we even have time to look back,” the Belarusian leader warned.

“There are a lot of envious people. That’s why time chose us. Let’s hold on to save our country. Once again I want to say: do not expect from me either betrayal or a change in the course. Together with you we will decide on all issues. I promise you this,” summed up Aleksandr Lukashenko.
