Lukashenko: fire of faith in Olympic ideals, true justice and sports fraternity burning in Minsk
The 2nd CIS Games have kicked off in Belarus. Speaking at a solemn opening ceremony of a large-scale sports forum, the President of Belarus greeted everyone who was at Minsk-Arena and the spectators who followed the event online.
“The Belarusian land is hosting the Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Once again, the attention of millions of fans around the world is riveted to us, just like four years ago, when the victorious fanfare of the 2nd European Games sounded in our stadiums. Their fire, lit in Minsk, has not gone out. It’s burning with faith in the Olympic ideals, true justice and sports fraternity. It brings together true friends, loyal and reliable, people with an iron character. It has brought us all together,” underlined the Belarusian leader.
The Head of State addressed the participants and guests of the 2nd CIS Games, “A wonderful atmosphere is reigning here. You create it with your emotions, openness, and friendliness. Thank you very much.”
The President expressed his gratitude to the CIS heads of state and the leaders all the countries from where the athletes arrived in Belarus, “You have shown confidence in Belarus, and we will hold this sports forum with dignity. It has a great future. This future is in our hands, no matter how the world bosses – embittered, but powerless – are striving to take it away.”
