Lukashenko expressed condolences over the death of first President of Moldova Mircea Snegur
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, expressed condolences to the family and friends of the first President of Moldova, Mircea Snegur, in connection with his death – as BelTA was reported by the Belarusian leader’s press service
“The political fate of Mircea Snegur was inextricably linked with the formation of Moldova as a sovereign state, as a full member of international organisations and as a participant in integration associations such as the UN and the CIS,” the Head of State underlined.
Belarus remembers that during his tenure as president, the fundamental documents of Belarusian-Moldovan relations were concluded, in particular the Treaty of Friendship and Co-operation, and Mircea Snegur himself took part in the opening of the Belarusian embassy in Chisinau in 1995.
The news of the death of the first President of Moldova in Belarus was received with deep sadness. “Together with you I mourn the irreparable loss and wish you mental fortitude and courage,” Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed his condolences.
