Lukashenko discussed co-operation with African countries with Sheiman

The development of joint projects in Africa was discussed by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during a meeting with Viktor Sheiman, who, as President’s Special Envoy, oversees co-operation with the countries of the African continent

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that there are no former generals and senior officials, while ‘despite some freedom and independence’, Africa remains a direction that Viktor Sheiman oversees as President’s Special Envoy. The topic is also relevant because in a number of the Head of State’s recent visits to different countries, the focus was placed on creating joint projects, “After visits to Zimbabwe, to the Emirates, after negotiations with the Russians, with the Chinese, we agreed on some joint projects in Africa, including in Zimbabwe. I’d like to know how are these issues progressing?”

Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded about the agreements reached in healthcare, “We promised them to improve their healthcare system. We must help them very seriously what concerns maternal and child mortality. We should also assist with baby food. Their people are coming soon, including the wife of the President [of Zimbabwe]. We will work and we will negotiate.”

The Belarusian leader also asked about the progress of co-operation in the real sector of the economy with the countries of the African continent, “After this visit [to Zimbabwe], many are interested in our work.”

The Belarusian Head of State also clarified what the shortcomings are, pointing out that in some media there is information (or someone makes stuffing) about problems with the supply of Belarusian equipment to the African market, “It’s necessary to ensure strict order there, an iron order so that Africans understand that we are conscientious and responsible people, so that we do not demand anything unnecessarily.”
