Lukashenko decided to appoint Aleksandr Yegorov as Deputy Head of President Administration
Aleksandr Lukashenko has decided to appoint Aleksandr Yegorov as Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration, BelTA reports
During today’s working meeting at the Palace of Independence, the Head of State said, “The issue is related to the modernisation of the system of control and management of economic processes in the country. We have a good pool and a group of economists – in the Government (these are financial economists), in our National Statistical Committee, and elsewhere. The President Administration will also be modernised in this regard. The Administration is the headquarters of the President, it is the political headquarters – but the issues of personnel, ideological, economic and legal work occupy a special place.”
According to the Head of State, issues related to analysis and control, including the realisation of Presidential instructions adopted following meetings with government members and economists, are sometimes not fully implemented. “Therefore, naturally, we need such a serious study by a group of specialists who could see these processes," Aleksandr Lukashenko explained.
"It is the same in personnel, ideological work, and so on. These are my issues, of course, so everything will be seriously modernised here. This whole block in terms of control, as well as economic management and finances somewhere, will be shifted to the President Administration for overseeing,” the Belarusian leader said.
The President also explained the reason for the choice of Aleksandr Yegorov's candidacy, “You are a young man, and you can see my policy that generations are changing and new persons are coming. This is how it should be, nothing should be frozen. I thought this pyramid could be topped by the Deputy Head of the Administration, and a fresh look of a young man is needed for this purpose. I have seriously studied your candidacy and biography."
The Head of State also warned Aleksandr Yegorov that he should be ready to express an alternative point of view. “I know your relationship with some CEOs. Later, if we make such a decision and you will work, you will have to take control of some of them, to somewhere express your opinion which does not coincide with that of the government, ministers, the National Bank, and others. Therefore, it is necessary to be ready for this," the President said.
In addition, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted Aleksandr Yegorov's banking experience, “You are a banker, so I will not need to hire an aide to the President on banking matters.”
Until now, Aleksandr Yegorov worked as Chairman of the Board of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus.
