Lukashenko congratulated Union of Belarus’ Writers on its 90th anniversary

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated the Union of Belarus’ Writers members on the significant date: 90th anniversary of the public association’s formation, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service

In his message, the Head of State noted that the creation of the Union of Soviet Writers of the BSSR in June 1934 laid a solid foundation for state relations with the authors of fiction and national literature, determining its main task: to serve the Fatherland and the Belarusian people.

The Belarusian leader noted that, among the initiators of that work were bright masters of the word: Yakub Kolas, Yanka Kupala, Mikhas Charot, Kuzma Chorny, Zmitrok Byadulya, Mikhas Klimkovich, Petrus Brovka, Kondrat Krapiva, Mikhas Lynkov, and others. “Life has confirmed the value of the unity of literary forces, the state and society, and the authoritative place of this art form in the general cultural space,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The Head of State added that many works born in the 1930s and later decades are still the subject of readers' attention. The Great Patriotic War period was reflected in the works of writers who personally heroically defended their Fatherland. Poets Piotr Prikhodko and Pavlyuk Pranuza left their autographs on the Reichstag wall.

“At present, laureates of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus, the Union State, honoured cultural figures, and People's Writer Nikolai Cherginets work as part of the organisation. I am sure that you will continue to objectively reflect modern events and social phenomena,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. “I wish you creative thoughts, new books and achievements!”
